The Detroit Tigers shut out the Baltimore Orioles toady and now found second place in the A.L. Central a half of a game ahead of the Indians. The Tigers got some fantastic pitching today from none other than Justin Verlander, the same guy who fell apart in the first inning of the All-Star game giving up five runs. Today we saw the Verlander we have all come to admire. Verlander pitched 8 solid innings of baseball and he didn’t surrender a run. Verlander had 8 strike outs on the day and only walked two.

Justin Verlander is a great pitcher and to repeat the season he had last season would be  fantastic. The Tigers got a good inning from Jose Valverde who had a shaky start to his 2012 season this year. Today both Verlander and Jose Valverde had their A games. The Tigers offense scored four runs after Austin Jackson opened up the scoring with a home run in the first inning. When the Tigers pitching is working well and the teams offense puts some runs on the board this team is tough to beat.

With the 4-0 win today the Tigers move to 46-43 on the year and just 3-1/2 games behind the Chicago White Sox.

Hey be sure to tell us what you think about Verlander’s day, just leave your comments below….

For all the jeering Verlander got for his AS start you’d of thought he was all washed up. But I don’t think he has even hit his stride yet. I can see him lasting in the game in the way of Nolan Ryan. I just hope the Tigers can keep him.
