Gene Sauers looks ready to compete for a championship, at the Senior British Open Championship. The man who won the 2016 Senior US Open looks to be in top form heading into the Open, especially since he is putting so well.

Sauers putted extremely well in the 4th and final round of this weeks Senior Players Championship. One of his struggles this year, has been his 4th round putting, but with the way he putted yesterday, he looks to have corrected any 4th round putting issues.

He started his final round by sinking an eagle putt on the second hole. He would go on to make birdies on the 4th and the 8th and would go out with a bogey free front nine of 32.

Sauers would continue his fine putting display by making another birdie on the par-5 12th. He was still bogey free, and would make another birdie on the very difficult par-4 14th.

Gene’s only mistake came late in the round when he found the water with his tee-shot on the difficult par-3 17th. He wasn’t the only guy that had issues on 17. The tournament leader Bernhard Langer who hardly ever makes a mistake found the water on 17, with his tee shot.

Sauers would right the ship, and sink his 5th birdie of the day on the most difficult 18th. What a great comeback he made showing his ability to mentally forget about what happened on 17 and ending his day with yet another birdie.

If Sauers can continue to putt the way he did in the final round of the senior players, he could be a force to deal with at the 2017 Senior British Open. He finished the players with 5 birdies and one eagle in his final round……

This guy has plenty of fire power to get it done. He is 2nd on the Champions tour in Eagles with 9 this season!!!!
