Very few people can hit the golf ball as far as J.B. Holmes can. He is one of the new generation of power hitters on the PGA Tour. He underwent brain surgery and miss a lot of  golf. Some may have never made the trip back to the winners circle.

But that isn’t the JB Holmes story. He made it back and he made it back with one goal in mind, he was going to be as good as he was before he underwent brain surgery. Holmes underwent a surgical procedure to relieve symptoms of Chiari malformations, which caused vertigo-like dizziness on September 1st.

It’s been about 8 months and you could see with each swing of the golf club, Holmes was slowly getting back to the form he had before he underwent the procedure. He played well at Harbour Town, but couldn’t find a way to string 4 rounds together to find the winners circle.

This wasn’t the case at the Wells Fargo Championship at the Quail Hollow Club. Holmes took the lead away from Phil Mickelson who was in the club house at 11 under par on Saturday. JB shot a nice round of 66, to take a 2 shot lead to bed with him on Saturday night.

He played well on Sunday, and was able to hold off some of his challengers who were falling off the pace a bit.

Holmes shot a final round 1 under par 71 to win the Wells Fargo Championship by just one stroke over Jim Furyk who was trying to chase Holmes down. I’d say it’s safe to say, J.B. Holmes has made it back and he is going to be a contender for years to come.

Congratulations on your victory JB Holmes, the victory is well deserved.
