The world not only lost a great golfer today, they lost a great voice for the game of golf too. Venturi who was just inducted into the Golf Hall Of Fame last week, had been hospitalized for more than two months in Southern California, and he could not be present for his induction into the Hall Of Fame.

Today, he lost the battle with the infections he was fighting over the past few months, he also had pneumonia and a intestinal infection. Venturi  won the 1964 U.S. Open. Venturi battled prostate cancer and won that battle in 2001. He just didn’t have the strength to over come the infections his body was overcome with.

He also had a quintuple heart-bypass surgery in 2006 and he has battled heart problems again since 2011. Ken Venturi is one of the great architects of the game f golf. He helped make the game popular much in the same way as Arnold Palmer did.

As a matter of fact, Venturi did battle with Arnie’s army on more than one occasion. The World lost a great golfer and a great golf commentator today. Ken Venturi will be missed….

Ken Venturi dead at the age of 82.
