As Stewart Haas racing continues to look for speed in qualifying with Danica Patrick behind the wheel of one of their cars, it has to be a pleasant surprised to the team that Patrick was able to break into the top 30 in qualifying. It has been a while since that happened.

Although Patrick qualified 4.26 miles per hour slower than the pole sitter, she is in the 28th spot for the start of the Pure Michigan 400. Now all the boys over at Stewart Haas have to do, is to find a way to keep her from crashing the car and actually finish the race.

It has been a struggle this season for Patrick. She comes into the Michigan race having crashed in 5 of her last 12 starts. It is getting expensive for Stewart Haas to keep Patrick employed as one of their drivers. Some thing that is Patrick didn’t bring a sponsor with her, they would have already canned her butt.

The high banks of the Michigan international Speedway are going to wear Patrick down. This is a track that is going to test the best of drivers and we all know Patrick doesn’t fall into that category. Come Sunday’s race, she better be on her toes. No one is going to give her anything come race time and that includes this super speedway.

Patrick starting in the 28th spot is going to have to have some skill and some luck to bring this one home. I’m talking about the car just finishing the race, not her winning….
