Danica Patrick made history starting from the pole position in the 55th running of the Daytona 500. Patrick has made statements all week-long about liking her 17% chance of winning from the Pole Position.  With 42 other cars chasing Patrick with their eyes set on winning the race, Patrick, fell behind on the first lap but she did get off to a great start. Patrick picked the outside lane and completed lap one of the race in second place. She appeared to be running clean and is holding onto second place. With 3 of the 200 laps complete at the time of this story she was running clean and maintaining the pace and seemed to be satisfied with second place.

Patrick seems to be pretty happy to follow Jeff Gordon around the track. Gordon has won the race 3 times and she is getting the best lines just drafting Gordon around the Daytona Speedway. Gordon has led the race since he overtook Patrick at the start.
