Corey Conners leads the VALSPAR Championship for the third straight day.

He maintained his composure all thru the round like a seasoned veteran.

Corey is a rookie and is very fortunate to even be playing this week.

He tried to qualify on Monday at a local qualifier and missed. He was all set to visit his grandparents who live just south of Tampa.

Suddenly on Monday he gets a phone call that someone had dropped out and he was in.

He had to pinch himself to believe it was true. Since becoming a member of the PGA Tour he has 11 starts and has only missed the cut one time.

This guy is solid and the big names all around him don’t seem to affect his play at all.

Today was pretty amazing with 6 birdies and 3 bogeys for a very nice 68.

Nipping at his heels all day was none other than Tiger Woods.

Actually it was Tiger, Justin Rose, & Brandt Snedeker. Wow 3 of the biggest names and didn’t phase him at all.

Tiger, Sneds, & Rosie all played solid golf on this par 71 Copperhead Course.

Conners will go off last with Rose. Tiger and Snedeker will be in the next to last group just like today.

They joked after the round because Tiger and Snedeker have been paired together at least 1/2 the rounds since Tiger came back.

Sunday will be one of those rounds that you will want to watch very closely.

You can not let Tiger get this close without making him lick his chops.

He wants this win so bad. Really think he wants it worse than Phil did last week.

Even Phil Mickelson said he will probably win this week to upstage Phil’s win. There is always banter going on between those 2.

Really is in good humor. I’m excited about the next time we see Tiger and Phil going head to head. Who knows……….maybe the MASTERS?????

It would be amazing for golf if we could see Woods and Mickelson together in the hunt at the masters in the last group. However I don’t see it happening with all the young guns on tour these days. Too much great talent. But who knows, both Phil & Tiger playing well….
