It’s moving day at Riviera, and one golfer who needs to make a move today is Luke Donald who sits only 2 strokes behind the leader at 7 under par. Donald had a good second round of 66 yesterday. He made 7 birdies and 2 bogies. If Donald can put together another round like that today, he has a chance to take over the lead. There are 3 guys between Donald and the tournament leader Sang-Moon Bae who is in the lead with a total score of -9.

Donald could leap over the guys in front of him that include, Fredrik Jacobson who is tied for the lead at 9 under par. Also ahead of Donald are John Rollins and John Merrick who are tied for second. Merrick who turned pro in 2004 has never won a PGA tour event , but he does have one second place finish.

If Donald is able to put himself in a position to find his way into the final group on Sunday, I like his chances. Donald has earned over 28 million dollars playing golf and is one of the more experienced guys at the top of the leader board at the Northern Trust Open. He just needs to put together 2 more solid rounds like he did yesterday and he could win this thing. I guess we will see come Sunday Afternoon.
