Pitching duel?  Well, yes and no. After all,  Detroit did get nine hits. The fact that they only managed to score just one run points to a deeper problem: a power outage that’s been going on now for the past month and a half: (other than Victor Martinez and Jhonny Peralta) they’ve  morphed into a collection of Punch and Judy hitters. Being able to fall back on starters like Verlander, Pfister and Sanchez, et al, is nice, but they’d better pick it up offensively if they want to find themselves in the Fall Classic later this month
