It doesn’t take long for the Internet phishing scammers, to find a way to cheat people out of their money. A report written by David Smith in Johannesburg, is stating these scammers have created fake Facebook pages, asking for money to help Oscar Pistorius, defend himself against the murder charges he is facing, after the fatal shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentines day of 2013.
According to Smith, the latest such page was created, saying it belongs to Carl Pistorius, the athlete’s older brother.
The Pistorius family are out raged by this scam. They are seeking to have the page taken down. The page is targeting fans of the alleged murderer. Who ever has created this page are hoping to be able to receive donations, from people who are willing to make contributions.
There are plenty of internet scams that the United States, claim start in South Africa. It was only a matter of time, before these people thought they could fraud others out of their hard earned money to help Pistorius.
Be aware, these people could be trying to steal identities as well. Stay away from any kind of fund to help Oscar Pistorius. It is doubtful, his family would ask for this kind of help.
