It’s been a terrible 2013 season for the Steelers and their fans. The team lost its first 4 games of the season while Ben Roethlisberger has taken a ton of punishment. The Steelers coming off a bye week managed to keep Roethlisberger on his feet to produce a mush-needed win.
That’s right folks, Big Ben pulled off a 19-6 win over the New York Jets. The Steelers are now 1-4 on the season and they could be headed in the right direction. Mike Tomlin banned all games in the Steelers locker room last week and it appeared to get this team re-focused on the game that takes place on the field.
Ben was sacked 3 times by the Jets defense. He managed the game well and completed 23 of his 30 passes for 264 yards and one touchdown. The best part if Roethlisberger’s performance was he didn’t force an interception and he won the game for his Steelers.
This is something that hasn’t come easy for the Steelers this season. The team’s defense helped in this victory as well. They held Geno Smith to just 201 yards and intercepted him twice.
This is a big win for a team that has struggled this season. The Steelers have their first win and the team and the fans have to be hoping this one helps them turn their 2013 season around.
The AFC North is still up for grabs. Even though the Steelers have been win-less until now they are only 3 games out of first place in their division and some good play could get them right back in the race.
The team has to be hoping this win will produce a boost to their confidence and they can find a way to battle back into the battle to control the AFC North.
