There is no doubt that something is going on with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. First the team makes a trade to acquire Terrell Pryor from the Raiders and a day later Wilson files for divorce from his wife of two years. Wilson and his soon to be ex-wife have been sweethearts since high school.

The two were married just before Wilson was drafted into the NFL. Now that Wilson’s petition for divorce were made public, the Seahawks issued a statement on their quarterbacks behalf. Here is a look at what the Seahawks posted about Wilson’s divorce;

“I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” Wilson said. “Clearly, decisions like these don’t come easy. Ashton and I respectfully ask for prayers, understanding and privacy during this difficult time. Moving forward, I will have no further comment on this matter.”

There are a couple of reasons to been concerned, if you are a Seahawks fan, first it is highly unusual for NFL teams or any professional sports teams to issue statements about a players personal life. The second reason for concern is, you have to wonder if Wilson is mentally fatigued from all that he has been through over the past year.

His new found fame since taking over as the Seahawks QB, is enough to tire anyone out. Then there is the Super Bowl win in only his second season in the NFL.

Not only was Wilson being tugged in a bunch of different directions all at once, he found it necessary to attend the Texas Rangers spring training. As is the quarterback wasn’t busy enough, poured gasoline on the already red-hot media frenzy that followed his every move.

Wilson has to be worn out mentally. Even the most seasoned athletes would be worn out, trying to keep up with his schedule. Now with his personal problems taking center stage, you have to wonder what will happen once the season starts. Seattle has to take precautions in case Wilson take the fall they are concerned about.

Lets hope it doesn’t happen to him……
