Lets face it, Ben Roethlisberger isn’t getting any younger. He has taken a beating the past few season and none were as bad as the one he took against Kansas City in the 2012 season. It knock Big Ben out of the game for weeks and probably cost the Steelers a shot at making the play offs. Roethlisberger made a little under 12 million dollars in 2012. He 3,265 yards during the 2012 season and 26 touchdowns. The Steelers missed the play offs and couldn’t get past the first round in 2011.
There is not many quarterbacks as tough as Ben Roethlisberger, but lets face it, his body has taken a beating over the years and he could be slowing down. He has been bothered by chronic ankle problems for several seasons and if the Steelers can’t protect him he has a hard time avoiding hits like he use to. Even Mr. Rooney knew they had to protect Big Ben better going into the 2012 season, he made that statement himself. Now that Ben is coming into his 10th season for the Steelers, they have to figure out a way to win if Ben goes down. Not only do the Steelers need to find a great back up for Ben, they should be looking to replace him in the near future. As to who could come in to Pittsburgh and do the same kinds of things that Ben did, well, that is the million dollar question. Or should we say the multi-million dollar question?
