The stage is set for what could be one of the best weekends of golf viewers have seen in some time. The last group in the first round features a pairing people are just waiting to see, Tiger Woods and his young playing companion Rory McIlroy who has just finished setting the FedEx play-offs on fire with his tremendous play. There are some in the world thinking that Woods is intimidated by the young McIlroy. I am not one of those people. I think McIlroy forces Tiger Woods to play the best golf we have seen Tiger play in the last four years. McIlroy brings out the best in Tiger.
Tiger Woods really wants to win this Tour Championship to show the world he can still compete on some of golfs biggest stages. The problem for Woods is McIlroy has his eyes set on the top price and it seems the younger eyes of McIlroy stay a bit more focused. This kid doesn’t seem to get pressured by anything. There was a time when playing in the same group as Tiger Woods was a huge distraction, McIlroy doesn’t seemed to be bothered by the presence of Tiger at all.
AS a matter of fact I think they both feed off each other, much the same as Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus used to do it. We are just about an hour from their tee times and this stage is set, and just think we go right from here to the Ryder Cup. For golf fans these two weeks are going to be special.
