Alex Smith and his San Francisco 49ers made it look way to easy to roll over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football. The 49ers are now 6-2 on the season and head coach Jim Harbaugh has to be liking what he is seeing from his 49ers at the half way point on the season. Smith threw for 232 yards completing 18 of the 19 passes he threw. I guess we can say Smith was on last night, when was the last time you seen a NFL Q.B. only miss one completion in a game? Smith threw 3 touchdowns and had no interceptions. He was sacked 4 times and it didn’t seem to bother him at all.
The 49ers defense almost played to perfection at times. They kept pressure on the Cardinals star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald all night long. At one point it looked like Fitzgerald wasn’t going to be able to go on. The 49ers pass coverage was great and the defense was able to hold Arizona to just 3 points all night. The 49ers completely out-classed the Cardinals in this game. The 49ers rushed the ball for 113 yards and Frank Gore led the way with 55 yards.
When you have Alex Smith throwing the ball that perfectly there isn’t a lot of need for a running game. Smith looked great last night. The 49ers are really going to be a force to deal with in the NFL this season. If they can stay healthy and keep winning football games they have to be a favorite to make it to the Super Bowl. Alex Smith has come a long way this season. And he keeps improving too.
