Jose Valverde came in for the Detroit Tigers and he could have closed out the game and gave his Tigers a win over the Chicago White Sox if he didn’t surrender the long ball to White Sox designated hitter Adam Dunn. Dunn’s home run scored Alejandro De Aza and the Sox took the lead in the 9th 3-2 over the Tigers. Valverde has been having a tough time this season closing out games for the Detroit Tigers. The Team is playing .500 ball at 13-13 on the season and now find themselves a game and a half behind the Cleveland Indians for first place in the A.L.Central.
The Tigers had the lead going into the ninth and the team finds themselves only a half game in front of Chicago for second place. The Tigers face the White Sox again today at 1:05 and Chicago is playing better baseball this season and could give Detroit a difficult time this afternoon. The Tigers will be sending Rick Porcello to the mound in today’s rubber match hoping to take the series against the White Sox.
