Stay in the closet if you are gay, that is what the 49ers corner back Chris Culliver said during the Super Bowl Media Day. Now withe the 49ers team not liking those comments Culliver came out and issued an apology. Here is what he said; “The derogatory comments I made yesterday were a reflection of thoughts in my head, but they are not how I feel. If that is not how he felt then way would he come out and say it?

If it is how he feels there is nothing wrong with expressing an opinion. The problem is he did it at the biggest media day in all of professional sports. The world was watching and in today’s time it is not politically correct to be making anti gay comments. Culliver also went on to say; It has taken me seeing them in print to realize that they are hurtful and ugly. Those discriminating feelings are truly not in my heart. Further, I apologize to those who I have hurt and offended, and I pledge to learn and grow from this experience.”

It took the 49ers rejecting the comments Chris made originally and it took them talking to Culliver before he came out and made his apology. Can you imagine playing in San Fransisco and making anti gay comments? What would the impact of that be?
