If you saw Alex Smith in his post game interview you would have seen the blood flowing down the front of his nose, Smith didn’t let a sore nose stop him from finding a way to beat the Detroit Lions to move his 49ers to 2-0. Smith showed he is one tough competitor.  Smith finished the game going 20 of 31 for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns. He found a way to get his team down the field and into the end-zone in the fourth quarter, if you heard Smith in his post game, he told you it was the 49ers receivers that make him look good.

Having a Frank Gore in your backfield doesn’t hurt either, Gore rushed for 89 yards on 17 carries and had one touchdown against a pretty good Lions defense. The 49ers look like a team that is going to be hard to beat this season, we all know they have a goal of finishing what they started in the 2011 season and this time they want to get to the super bowl. There was a lot of hype about the post game handshake, Harbaugh just shook it off and there was no incidents when they shook hands after the game. Why should there be, for the second year in a row it was Harbaugh and his 49ers beating the Detroit Lions, this time they downed them 27-19.

Alex Smith is showing those who thought he couldn’t get it done he can do it.
