31 NASCAR team’s were caught cheating today at the Daytona International Speedway. NASCAR confiscated the roof flaps from all 31 cars that failed inspection. It appears that these race teams were shaving down the spacers that would reduce weight.

It is illegal to alter the roof flap spacers. None of the 31 cars that altered their roof flap spacers were allowed on the track to practice until they installed new roof flaps without altered spacers. Some of the biggest names in the sport were busted.

The List includes, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards , Ricky Stenhouse Jr. who is the boyfriend of Danica Patrick. Clint Bowyer, Martin Truex Jr., Michael Waltrip, Jamie McMurray, Trevor Bayne, Casey Mears, Marcos Ambrose and Aric Almirola also failed inspection.

This has to be the biggest bust of team’s trying to cheat in the history of NASCAR. Never before have I ever heard of so many cars failing inspection. Make you think that this is nothing new. These team’s probably have altered the spacers for more than one race.

Why they all were caught this week at Daytona makes you wonder if someone turned them in. These were some of the biggest names in racing and they were all caught red handed trying to cheat. The roof flaps are designed to keep the cars on the ground in case they try to get airborne. Messing around with those flaps could be deadly.
